Reward based training focuses on rewarding the dog for behaviors we want to see rather than punishing the dog for unwanted behaviors.

An aversive is any stimulus or tool that is used to stop or decrease an unwanted behavior by using pain, discomfort, or fear. Examples of aversives include: prong collars, shock tools, spray cans, air cans, yelling and hitting.

At Good Poppi, we prioritize building a trusting, positive relationship with your dog using reward-based methods only.

Great question! You will always pay for sessions at the time of scheduling. Ex. if you schedule your consultation during the phone intake, the payment will be due at that time.

For Separation Anxiety training, virtual is the most efficient option. Here’s why:

1. Separation Anxiety training revolves around your everyday leaving routine. If I am present in the home or we are doing training sessions outside of the home, this will automatically change your dog’s leaving routine.

2. Separation Anxiety is linked to a specific person or group of people, so the training is best done with the people your dog is closest to.

3. You have access to a Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer no matter where you are located.

I require at minimum 48 hours notice before the session start time for any cancellations or rescheduling. For example, if your session is scheduled at 10am on Saturday morning, you will send your cancellation notice by no later than 10am Thursday morning.

If less than 48 hours notice is given, the session will be forfeited.

For sessions, you’ll need a way to take video (a laptop, pet camera, iPad, or similar), a cell phone to communicate with me, and Zoom for our sessions. That’s it—simple and flexible so we can work in your dog’s real home environment.
